If you want to enjoy an afternoon of nature and delicious brews, then don’t miss the second annual Beer in the Woods event. This celebration of beer and nature is on September 29th at beautiful LaBagh Woods. The scenic destination near Two Itasca Place Apartments is a haven for bird lovers and now beer lovers, too! More than thirty breweries and cideries will be offering their best brews. Here are just a few of the companies participating:
Blue Blood Brewing Co.
Blue Blood was established in 2011 by three friends from the Lincoln Police Department. They share a passion for craft beer, and all of their creations are made from fresh ingredients. Choices include Peach Gose, American Barleywine Ale, and Himalayan-style Blonde Ale.
When Forbidden Root opened in 2016, it became the first botanical brewery in Chicago. In addition to craft beer, owner Robert Finkel is also passionate about giving back. The brewery helps support organizations such as Meals on Wheels and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Try beers such as Hay Fever, Strawberry Basil, and Wildflower Pale Ale.
Gregory Hall worked at a well-known brewery before establishing Virtue Cider in 2013. Before opening the doors, he studied the craft of cider and toured the top cider makers in England and France. All of his creations are made using Michigan apples and are aged in barrels inside the cider house. Choices include The Mitten, Lapinette, and Percheron.
Right Bee Cider
Owned by the husband and wife team of Charlie and Katie Davis, Right Bee Cider opened in 2014, just six months after they were married. It took two years of planning and preparation, and the cider is made by hand with natural ingredients. Options include a classic cider in dry and semi-dry.
