If you’re looking for a colorful work of art, head to The Brigantine Art Gallery in Itasca. It’s home to local and national award-winning artists who use a wide array of styles and techniques. The gallery is an easy drive from Two Itasca Place Apartments, and here are some of the artists whose work graces the walls:
Charles Vickery had a lifelong passion for the sea and he became interested in painting seascapes after high school. He attended the Art Institute of Chicago and the American Academy of Fine Art, though he often credited Lake Michigan as being his greatest instructor. Vickery is known as one of the best painters of the sea, and the gallery shows his original oil paintings featuring seascapes and sailing ships.
Born and raised in Ukraine, Walter Monastyretsky was a pharmacist before becoming a painter. He later attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Kiev, and today he is a member of the Chicago Artists Coalition. Charles specialty is oil on canvas, and he paints cityscapes, landscapes, and portraits.
Growing up, Tom Henrichsen had two passions: art and music. After studying fine art at Illinois State and the American Art Academy, he decided to pursue a career in music. But that changed during a vacation to Scottsdale, Arizona. During the trip, Tom met a western artist who inspired him to once again pick up a brush. He’s a member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards from local art festivals.
C.L. Smith calls the western suburbs of Chicago home, and his paintings have been exhibited across the country. He works in oil on linen, and his detailed creations convey the drama of light and motion.
