Residents of the Two Itasca Place Apartments can enjoy a local tradition and take part in Lombard’s Annual Lilac Time Art and Craft Fair on Sunday, May 1st, beginning at 10:00 am. Just a short 15 minute drive from our community, the fair is one of the first large outdoor events of the year in historic downtown Lombard. It also stands as an unofficial celebration of Spring.
The celebration got its origins from the local Lilacia Park. This park is home to over 700 lilacs and 25,000 tulips. Long ago, a resident named Col. William Plum bequeathed the property to the community of Lombard for residents to enjoy.
The Art and Craft Fair will host over 100 booths of local merchants who plan to showcase their work and merchandise. Local downtown shops will also be open for business as well. Delicious food, local music and entertainment will be on hand for residents to enjoy as they peruse. In addition, a free kid zone filled with inflatable play structures and other fun activities will be available for children to play in.
Once finished with the Fair, residents can take a short walk over to Lilacia Park and enjoy the beautiful 8.5 acre horticultural garden. The park also contains over 200 varieties of lilacs and 50 varieties of tulips. It also has a working greenhouse, historical buildings and picnic tables.
Step out and enjoy the fresh spring air at Lombard’s Annual Lilac Time Art and Craft Fair. This unique festival gives residents the opportunity to explore the talents of local artists, enjoy free music and entertainment, and most importantly support local business.
